Baseball isn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…

The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase… he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.

I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.

Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.
And everything in my world broke apart.

REVIEW

Feelings—they can screw you up from reading just a couple of words on a page. Let me tell you! I just started this book last night and I was so blown away. Here’s the play-by-play, it involves a very attractive sandy-blonde GQ baseball player that is a playboy. I know what you’re thinking…because I’m the same! As much as we want to hate him, we all know the bad boys always makes us squirm….in a good way. Moonshot by Alessandra Torre, tells a story of Tyler Rollins, this seventeen-years-old ball girl for the Yankees who’s been tempted by Chase Stern who will give her his homerun. (I crank myself up!)

It starts off with the season of 2011. The year that will change Ty’s naïve heart. Tyler’s dad, Mr. Rollins, is one of the most respected players on the team. The Closer. Ty has always been a baseball influencer. She eats, breathes, and sleeps it. For the last seven years, he has brought his daughter on the road with him, because she wanted too. She and her father have this close bond, because they both lost someone they loved. Her mother.  So how does the teammates treat her? Like one of the boys.

Chase Stern is this twenty-three year’s old hot player on the block. After being in a scandal that caused him to be kicked off the LA team—he needed a new home base. Guess where this bad boy went too? I’ll give you a hint—a very juice big apple!  At a barbecue party with the GM of the Yankees, Mr. Grant, who truly enjoys Ty around and wants her to be with his son, Tobey (but that is important later), had made the announcement. Chase will be coming along to the boys in the pinstripes. She had a big crush on him. Who wouldn’t be crushing on this beautiful creature! *Fanning myself!

Her dad wasn’t too fond of him, but she told him she was smart enough to not be stupid. (HA!). I’m sorry, whenever I hear that line from anyone it’s bound to fail. Anyways, so one day after a game, Ty’s dad forgot his wallet (yet again). She head back to be stumble upon the stature of Chase. She checked him out…for a long time…In all fairness, I’d probably do the exact same if a guy stood there butt naked in the locker room. Come on! It’s a locker room, what do you expect? But, she figure everyone was gone …. so? Oh boy, she was wrong. Chase Stern in the nude—I wonder how much that would go for on TMZ? (Als0–this guy reminds me of Brett Lawrie–the look…I need to stop!)

Like what you see.. (When he said this line—I literally felt he was right in front of me naked and I was blushing like a high school girl).

For some reason, Chase is so attracted to her; however, Ty’s a “NO-NO” because of who her father was. But come on, does that stop this man?Nope.  She’s different, she’s his friend—he can talk to her, the typical speech that all men give. Well, what do friends do? They kiss right? Right? Okay—usually you try not to make-out with your good friend; but on the other hand, their heated and electrifying kiss surely makes you want to be in “that” kind of  friendship. Cue kissing scene now!

One night, after getting pretty frisky with one another (Chase and Ty were kind of like trying to torcher each other before the action pack scene started) Ty woke up in her hotel room all blushing and what not. She wanted to see him so she went to visit Chase when she sees a bunch of girls come out of his room. (JERK!) Well she cried because they just spent a romantic night together and she has never did the things she did with him with anyone before (only second based—PG people!) when she runs into Tobey(Told you he was coming later…). They got drunk together. Kissing led to make-out, led to a bed, and followed by a very quick couple of minutes that she REGRETTED big time.

The next game, he was so torn about how she was distant to him. He confessed that the girls were there for drugs, because that same day was the anniversary of his sister’s death. Ty felt sick to her stomach because so had slept with Tobey (Oh this is the part where she didn’t tell him…) meanwhile Chase wasn’t sleeping around (YAY go #teamchase). He was just doing drugs (No-Yay?). She told him that it had to end, and he promised her he would. Clean as a whistle (Technically a whistle isn’t clean because you put your salvia on it…okay way to far). So they made up, got together—but Ty didn’t have sex with him—which was weird. She slept with Tobey but not with Chase even though she wanted too. Come on girl!

Now I’m going to insert a little bomb because this is when the MAJOR TWIST comes along. Cue the WTF?

A little bit of time had passed… and by little—I mean four years later….things aren’t what they seem to be ….anymore.

I don’t want to go fully in depth because it will spoil the first twist (what Vee! There is more than one twist? Oh yes there is!). For me, this was a fast-pace easy read. It laid out all the things, and I kind of was totally blindsided at the end. I was expecting something else but that just throw me off the loop. Alessandra’s way of tying everything together was spectacular. To be truthful, I didn’t expect this book was going to be with way. I know, I know—I was thinking it maybe something different or lacking interest but it hooked me at the first chapter! I love how you got to see both POV, first and third person. I wonder why Chase wasn’t also in third; however, I truly enjoyed it. I love second chances love stories. They give you this tension that the fight that these two characters had in them was so strong that nothing could come in their way…okay maybe something did?

If you’re looking for a suspense love affair, check out Moonshot!
